Grad School Tools

Below are some resources that I have found helpful to organize both my personal and professional life as a graduate student. Please reach out if you have questions about using any of them.

An all-in-one place to organize tasks, grocery lists, recipes, packing lists, meeting notes, personal notes, and even a list of journal articles to read. Click here to view my Notion template and feel free to duplicate any (or all) pages for your own use. I found the F31/NRSA page to be especially helpful when putting together an NIH application. The Internship page was useful for staying organized throughout the clinical psychology internship application process. Also, make sure you sign up for Notion using your school email for free access to the Personal Pro plan.

A free citation manager that allows you to organize articles and other academic resources and, most importantly, quickly and easily cite them in papers using Microsoft Word or Google Docs. I am a big fan of the ZotFile extension, which allows you to automatically move and rename any file added to your Zotero library. I have it set up so that all my files save to my Google Drive so that everything is nicely backed up.

I also have created a completely separate Zotero profile for my clinical resources. I save all my favorite resources there so that I can quickly find them before a therapy or assessment session. I have the resources tagged by age-group (i.e., child, adolescent, adult), therapy modality (e.g., CBT, IPT), resource type (e.g., client handout, therapy manual), and diagnosis/symptoms (e.g., depression, anxiety, ADHD).

Create a CV using R Markdown that is beautifully formatted and endlessly customizable. The modifications allow for multiple citation lists (e.g., publications, presentations, and papers in preparation) in APA format. Another great feature is that you can easily add citations from a citation manager into your CV. I have also created a master spreadsheet with all the information that I could ever imagine putting in my CV, with formulas to easily check off what to include in each version I save.

For privacy reasons, I have chosen not to post my own CV-building materials online. However, if you would like copies of any of the files I have further modified for my CV please (including the big spreadsheet), please contact me.

A place to track all of your pre-doctoral clinical hours and client information in a comprehensive (and easy) way. All of your information can be conveniently input into your APPIC Application for Psychology Internships (AAPI). If you're interested in signing up, feel free to use my referral link and be sure to see if your department will cover the subscription cost.

This website was created on Google Sites with some additional HTML features (including the social media icons) that I learned how to create from W3Schools. If you'd like to use it as a template for your own personal website, please reach out!
